The wireless infrastructure is the backbone of every mobility solution. Many organizations assume that their equipment is running at peak performance while in reality, failed or incorrectly configured devices are causing serious performance issues. This is especially true in high volume and high traffic network implementations that have no onsite IT resources, high personnel turnover or little corporate visibility.

The Cumulus System Maintenance and Fitness Check Program is designed to ensure that your wireless implementation is operating at maximum efficiency. Our network consultants will evaluate your current implementation and document the configuration to provide a current state analysis of your mobility solution. This provides a baseline from which remediation recommendations are made to bring the network into compliance with Cumulus supported best practices.

The program includes two site visits to your facility annually, in addition to continued monitoring by our wireless experts for developments that are relevant to your network, including security and functional upgrades.

Documentation and Baseline

Our first visit to your facility provides the initial evaluation of your wireless infrastructure and the first level of documentation, including remediation recommendations, to bring it in line with Cumulus recommended best practices.

  • The baseline phase provides complete RF coverage verification and documentation. This step also addresses actual wireless coverage versus expected coverage.

  • Complete spectrum analysis to document any source of interference

  • Software and firmware revision documentation (infrastructure and client)

  • Document security and network configuration?

  • If problems suspected from the coverage verification, a visual inspection of access points, cables and antennas will be provided to ensure proper connectivity.

Ongoing Maintenance

A Cumulus engineer will return to your facility every six months to re-evaluate the infrastructure, apply any required software and firmware updates, and perform an overall fitness check of your mobility solution.

  • Evaluate deployed firmware for software revisions

  • Confirm wireless coverage

  • Provide updated spectrum analysis to document any source of interference

  • Check for rogue access points

  • Updated remediation recommendations

  • Provide security alerts and apply available patches

Warehouse and Distribution Implementations

In addition to analyzing and documenting the wireless infrastructure, Cumulus consultants will review your data collection deployment and provide remediation recommendations on your Intermec, LXE, and Symbol hand held or vehicle mount implementation.

  • Software and firmware revision documentation for both infrastructure and client devices

  • Remediation and configuration recommendations to support changing network requirements
